Greg Rice – The CCM Professor
Wretched sinner. Repentant. Miraculously forgiven. Totally unworthy. Blessed beyond belief. Devoted disciple. Child of God. Former child of wrath. Husband. Father. Extremely grateful.
Greg Rice understands firsthand the power of music to shape hearts and transform lives—because it transformed his own. As the son of a preacher, Greg grew up surrounded by hymns, choirs, and the rhythms of ministry life. Yet for many years, he found himself caught in a cycle of performance—working hard to appear like he had everything in order, while wrestling privately with fear of rejection and the weight of religious expectations. “The rules of Christianity consumed me,” Greg recalls. “My pace for productivity was frantic. I was doing all the right things, but for all the wrong reasons.”
Over time, God began to peel away those layers of striving and self-reliance, teaching Greg that true growth comes not from endless effort but from resting in His presence. “God has been showing me that His plan for me begins with slowing down and learning to simply rest in Him,” Greg shares. This realization reshaped both his faith and his approach to ministry, giving him a fresh perspective on grace and authenticity.
Today, Greg shares that message through his work as the CCM Professor. With a storyteller’s heart and a passion for music history, he has made it his mission to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Contemporary Christian Music. Whether through his podcast, speaking engagements, or music ministry, Greg helps believers rediscover the joy of sitting at Jesus’ feet—reminding them that it is God’s partnership, not human productivity, that fuels lasting spiritual growth.
Greg’s journey has taken him across the United States and abroad, from touring with Spirit Bound and The Crownsmen to traveling as a Liberty University student alongside Dr. Jerry Falwell. His smooth, jazz-influenced pop vocals—shaped by the artistry of Al Jarreau and John Denver—carry both technical skill and heartfelt emotion. Whether he’s unpacking the story behind a forgotten CCM chart-topper or offering a personal testimony of God’s faithfulness, Greg’s goal remains consistent: to inspire others to rest in God’s grace while celebrating the music that has strengthened the faith of generations.
